A training series for local female councillors has been concluded on 18 August in the city of Madaba. During the series of workshops, a total of 178 members of municipalities from all over Jordan have participated in trainings on legislation, municipality law and interpersonal skills aiming at supporting and enhancing their performance in the Municipality Councils. The trainings have been implemented by Nour Al-Hussein Foundation and supported by FES Amman.

In cooperation with UNAMI and UNOPS, FES and the Iraqi Democratic Future Network trained 10.000 independent election observers in all governorates of Iraq. These observers will monitor the voter registration process. Their reports and current updates will be published in this Online Operations Room.

The Iraqi Parliament is a central player in Iraqi politics today. The present third report of the FES-Series FOCUS IRAQ discusses recent and upcoming decisions to be taken by Parliament in the coming months.
The report is titled "Between Boycott and Benchmarks" and has been composed by Michael Bröning, Dominik Heck and Matthias S. Klein. The study also discusses the challenges that have to be overcome, in order to improve transparency and efficiency of the Iraqi Parliament.

In cooperation with UNAMI and UNOPS, FES and the Iraqi IDFN-Network are training 10,000 election observers from Iraqi civil-society for upcoming elections in Iraq.
As part of the project, FES-Amman organized the third training of trainers workshop for Iraqi observers between the 3rd and the 5th of March 2008 in its premises in Shmeisani.
